Professor Lawrence Zeegen is currently interim Pro Vice-Chancellor for the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media where he leads the Birmingham Institute for Creative Arts, the Birmingham Institute of Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles, the Birmingham Institute of Media and English, the Birmingham School of Architecture and Design and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Lawrence has led schools and faculties at some of the UK’s foremost universities including London College of Communication at University of the Arts London, Kingston University, University of Brighton Ravensbourne University London.
As Professor of Illustration, Lawrence has lectured internationally in over 25 countries and has worked as an academic advisor to numerous institutions globally.
Lawrence is the author of nine published books on graphic arts, including Fifty Years of Illustration, Ladybird by Design, The Fundamentals of Illustration and Digital Illustration and is contributor to numerous publications including Computer Arts, Creative Review and Varoom.
Lawrence's design and illustration clients include major international newspapers, magazines, book publishers, design studios and advertising agencies. His awards include D&AD pencils and The Drum 'Design Champion'.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Lawrence is trustee for both the De Le Warr Pavilion and the Creative Conscience Awards and a former trustee of D&AD and the British Interactive Media Association (BIMA). Lawrence has twice been appointed to the Exec Board of ico-D (formerly icograda).
